Tim Pierce Announces For Mayor Of Long Beach
(Long Beach, Mississippi) – On Monday, 13, former NASA executive, Tim Pierce, announced his candidacy for Mayor of Long Beach. Pierce, who currently serves on the school board and previously served as an alderman, said his vision for Long Beach focuses on promoting strategic growth through community-centered initiatives, investing in education, technology, and infrastructure and continuing to foster partnerships that strengthen the city and enhance its future.
As a candidate for Mayor of Long Beach, I am committed to building a brighter future for our community,” Pierce stated. “Our city, known for its great schools and low crime rates, is an ideal place for families and retirees alike. But if we are going to continue our city’s success, we must have a plan for the future—and I have a specific one focused on bringing positive changes to Long Beach.
Pierce outlined his goals and agenda as Mayor including:
• Revitalizing our Harbor – renovating the hurricane-damaged harbor to restore its functionality and enhance our waterfront.
• Annexing the Long Beach Industrial Park – expanding our city limits to include the Long Beach Industrial Park, which will increase tax revenues and strengthen our local economy.
• Collaborating on Pier Reconstruction – working with Harrison County to reconstruct the pier at the end of Jeff Davis, ensuring our residents have access to our beautiful coastline.
• Creating a Walkable Business Community
– developing a walkable area connecting the neighborhoods north of the railroad tracks to Jeff Davis, promoting local businesses and community interaction.
• Fostering a Business-Friendly Environment – implementing policies that attract new businesses and support existing ones, driving economic growth, and job creation.
• Supporting our Top-Rated Schools – continuing to advocate for and investing in our excellent school district, ensuring our children receive the quality education they deserve.
• Enhancing Infrastructure Through Partnerships – collaborating with industry, state, and federal governments to secure funding for critical infrastructure improvements to benefit all residents.

Pierce is a lifelong resident of Long Beach. He has extensive experience of more than 20 years improving the city as a former Alderman where worked to improve infrastructure and community growth. Additionally, as School Board President, Pierce helped drive post-Katrina recovery efforts by modernizing facilities and maintaining top-ranked schools. As the current Chief of the Planning & Development Division at NASA Stennis Space Center, Pierce has the business-minded leadership skills to lead Long Beach into the future.
Pierce earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi, specializing in leadership, conflict resolution, and financial management.
Tim and his wife, Tina, have been married for 34 years and have four wonderful children and six grandchildren.

Timothy I. Pierce has dedicated decades to leadership in both public service and his local community. After an impactful career at NASA’s Stennis Space Center, Pierce is transitioning into retirement with plans to continue his commitment to public service while enjoying quality time with his family and the outdoors.

✅ Senior System Accountant, NASA Stennis Space Center – Streamlined financial operations and implemented innovative systems.
✅ Deputy Chief & Chief of Planning and Development Division – Led strategic initiatives, including master planning, tenant agreements, and Enterprise Park development.
✅ Long Beach School Board President (since 2005) – Championed educational projects, improved school security, and upgraded technology.
✅ Alderman, Long Beach (1993–2001) – Guided the city through key initiatives and developed long-term strategic plans.
✅ Inducted into Long Beach School District Hall of Fame (2021).
As a leader known for tackling complex challenges and driving innovation, Pierce’s legacy is built on transforming organizations and communities. Moving forward, he’s eager to contribute to policy initiatives that will positively impact his community and beyond. When not focused on public service, Tim enjoys spending time with his family, camping, and fishing along the Mississippi coast. Tim and his wife, Tina, have been married for 34 years and have four wonderful children and six grandchildren.
